Herb Thompson retired from the US Army as a Special Forces leader as the only person in the US Army's history to have earned the Drill Sergeant of the Year award and the Green Beret. He is the best-selling and award-winning author of The Transition Mission.

Herb earned an MBA from Cornell University post service and attended Tuck: Next Step Transition to Business, a graduate certificate program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He currently resides at his slice of heaven in the woods near Washington, DC, with his fiancée and their blended family of four teenage children.
