Cloud spending, software licensing, and business accountability are becoming increasingly connected, but many organizations still manage them through separate teams, tools, and processes. ServiceNow Cloud Cost Management helps bring those areas together by giving FinOps, ITAM, SAM, cloud, and finance teams a shared view of cloud consumption, cost ownership, optimization opportunities, and governance. 

For organizations that have purchased CCM or are beginning to evaluate how it fits into their operating model, the first priority should be practical: establish a focused use case and start building trustworthy cloud cost visibility. 

The first step is to align and prepare. Confirm the cloud footprint in scope, identify the sponsor and operational owners, and agree on an initial business goal. That goal could include BYOL planning, identifying unused cloud resources, improving cost allocation, understanding AI-related cloud spend, or creating showback for a business unit. Teams should also confirm the access, permissions, billing data, and stakeholders required to support activation. 

The second step is to connect cloud data. Establish access to billing data from AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, configure the required connections, and begin scheduled ingestion. Bringing cloud platform administrators and billing owners into the process early can help validate credentials, permissions, account structures, and data exports. Once that data begins flowing, teams can start creating a consistent view of cloud costs across accounts, services, and business owners. 

These first two steps are the foundation for a broader Cloud Cost Management activation journey.
